(newborn oliver surrounded by his sisters' friends)
well, oliver is one year old now and facing forward in his car seat! hooray! he's been waiting for that since oh, about four months old. his birthday was on friday (january 2) and we spent it in virginia with travis, jamie and their kids. we had a combined party (cousin malia's birthday is today) complete with party games, cousin relays, and cake and cupcakes.
oliver wasn't the happiest . . . in fact he was pretty miserable all day - we think he's teething. he pretty much fussed and slept his way through his birthday (he took about a four hour nap.)
but that's okay. . . he deserved a fussy day. he's never had one before. that's right, you heard me right, he's never been fussy. this was his first bout of fussiness. he's the greatest little guy. ever since he was born he's just been sweet, sweet, sweet. the most un-fussy baby ever.
so ollie, here's to you! happy birthday! hope the second year is as great as the first . . . but without all the weight gain. please . . . my back is killing me.
a p.s. to the party . . .
we decided it would be fun to try musical chairs as one of the party games. it sounded like a good idea, but the more i thought about it, i knew exactly how my girls would react if they got out. so quickly, seconds before the music started for the first round, i tried to get in a quick "what-it-means-to-be-a-good-sport, and even-though-you-may-get-out-it-will-be-okay" speech, but sure enough, this happened anyway...

Time flies so fast. WIth 3 I am sure you are use to it, I feel like yesterday I just had Lu. Oliver is so cute, your girls are darling...they get that from their mother
Poor Ollie. You can see it in his face that he doesn't feel good. He is such a sweet boy and how I miss him. Love the picture of Parker and Macy crying over the musical chair game. Ah...the lessons of life...
Happy Birthday Ollie. I can't believe how much has happened over the last year. Time flies. He is such a cutie!
Thanks for the update! Happy birthday to Oliver! it is wild that our kids are already one! (and 3 and 5 for you!)
I love that! Those will be great black mail pictures, come teen-age years!
