thanksgiving in virginia

we had a lovely thanksgiving weekend in virginia with jamie and travis and their wonderful kids. we are so glad to be close to family for the holidays!

we had so much fun hanging out, eating, hanging out, eating, and eating.  we were even able to keep up the tradition that josh and i have of shopping the day after thanksgiving.  this year was the "no spending" edition of that tradition.  but that's okay. . . kind of.  it's fun to get out there and feel festive, even if you can't buy a darn thing.

thank you jamie and travis for having us.  can't wait till christmas. . .  we'll be back!

oh, funny story.  saturday we went to maymont park, a lovely, lovely place and spent hours having so much fun running around, having a picnic, seeing animals, walking through lovely gardens, and climbing trees.  on the way home, we stopped at mcdonalds and got ice cream cones. when we got home and we were reporting the days events to travis (who stayed home sick), each and every kid replied the same when asked what we had done that day.  "we went to mcdonalds and got ice cream!"

moral of the story. . .  parents, we don't have to try so hard.

I've learned that McDonalds pretty much trumps everything!

So glad that your holiday weekend was so lovely!

And don't feel bad about your no spending rule. Most of our Christms is coming from DI this year and it's actually been fun!

Sounds like so much fun. I'm so glad you have family close by (well, sort of close). Maymont Park sounds like a wonderful place to visit. They just need to serve soft serve ice cream cones.
