first we start with a little whitney. because what three-year old doesn't love whitney?
i don't really need to look very much further,
i don't want to have to go where you won't follow,
i won't hold it back again this passion inside,
i can't run from myself, there's nowhere to hide.
don't let me close one more door
i don't want to hurt anymore
stay in my arms if you dare
or must i imagine you there?
don't walk away from me (nooo)
i have nothing, nothing, nothing...
if i don't have you.
and then i continue on with the concert with some sweet, folksy tunes...
from this valley they say you are going,
we will miss your bright eyes and sweet smile,
for they say you are taking the sunshine
that has brightened our pathways a while.
come and sit by my side if you love me,
do not hasten to bid me adieu,
but remember the red river valley,
and the girl who has loved you so true.
tell me why the stars do shine
tell me why the ivy twines
tell me why the sky's so blue
and i will tell you just why i love you.
because god made the stars to shine
because god made the ivy twine
because god made the sky so blue
because god made you, that's why i love you.
beautiful, beautiful brown eyes
beautiful, beautiful brown eyes
beautiful, beautiful brown eyes
you have the most beautiful eyes. *
(*original lyric "i'll never love blue eyes again."
changed due to blue-eyedness in the extended family.)
you are my sunshine my only sunshine
you make me happy when skies are gray
you'll never know dear how much i love you
please don't take my sunshine away.
say say, oh playmate, come out and play with me
and bring your dollies three, climb up my apple tree
slide down my rainbow into my cellar door
and we'll be jolly friends forever more.
and the final song of every bedtime routine is a little taste of kenny loggins, of course.
and even though we ain't got money, i'm so in love with you honey
and everything will bring a chain of love.
and in the morning when i rise, you bring a tear of joy to my eyes
and tell me everything is gonna be alright.

Sweet. So sweet.
This is so sweet, Robin. It made me cry. (Really, it did.) What a good momma you are. I love singing to my neices at night, I can't wait to sing to one of my own...
I expect the same treatment when I come. Except, can I request the addition of Christina aguilera's lady marmalade.
Start practicing.
Sweetest mommy ever.
And just to save time, I will tell you when your blog does NOT make me cry. Otherwise, assume it did.
aw shucks that was sweet. Those tender soft singing moments at bedtime are some of the best moments of my entire life.
paul and i used to sing that kenny loggins song on our trips to and from utah back in his college days...in the car...in the desert.
very sweet, robin.
