a parker memory

in all the hustle and bustle of the family reunion/moving, i forgot to share this little nugget of joy.  . .

it was during that awesome week when i wanted to call in supernanny . . . during dinner, grammy told parker to stop blowing bubbles in her juice.  (i didn't know any of this was going on, i was at the table, parker was at the counter, just f.y.i.)  of course, she didn't stop.  for those of you who don't know, parker doesn't like to be told what to do.   my mom told me that she wasn't listening so i had to step in.  i told her that if she didn't stop blowing bubbles in her juice, i would take it away from her and she couldn't have anymore juice for the rest of the day. (lame, i know, but sometimes i just run out of warnings . . .)

to which she replied, with 100% attitude and under her breath . . .

"who cares?  we're just gonna read books and go to bed.  it doesn't even matter."

my mom and i were completely taken aback with this extremely adolescent response given so nonchalantly . . . as if she's already caught on to my parental desperation when it comes to disciplining her.  and it was all we could do to stop laughing.  because, it really was funny.  yet, strangely sad, as if i were getting a glimpse of my life in ten years with a teenage parker.

please, pray for me.

Glad you can laugh. Sometimes that's all you can do.

And I love your apartment and it's NOT dorky to post pics. I'm so glad you did!

I'm so happy that you are loving your new area.

your post was the bright spot to my day robin. seriously, you made me feel like i wasn't alone in my desperation as i struggled with my own child. i will now go pray for us both!!

HA HA!! i mean, geez rob, i'm sorry Parker acts like that (Emmy isn't quite the angel she once was). but i had to laugh after hearing more than once from your parents about another little girl, once upon a time on Willow St.

(i know, i'm not helping, am i?)

that is what i HATE about toddler years: they're totally teenagers! except with a decent bedtime. and, my kids still like me most of the time. when i think of things that way, i figure this really can't be all that bad!
