if you were a 25-year old single, newly graduated (and jobless) guy, wouldn't the sound of a week with your older sister and her domestic life sound super fun? well for my little brother craig, apparently!
craig was with us all last week and it was a little like having my own personal manny:
"craig, can you buckle the kids please?"
"craig, will you stay in the car with the kids while i run into this store (or three) that i never get to frequent because i have a huge and loud entourage?"
"craig, will you pick up sawyer and protect him from oliver?"
"craig, will you wake up with the kids on saturday morning?"
"craig, do you mind staying with the kids while i take ollie to the dentist?"
"craig, will you play hide & seek with the kids for the millionth time so i can take a lengthy shower?"
...with a little naggy older sister thrown in:
"do you really like this music?"
"don't pull on your seatbelt!"
"did you really just make that noise?"
but craig is the best sport around. if you know him then you know he is easy to please. and although i didn't cook once for him the whole time he was here (even though i had meals planned and the intention of going to the store every day) he still had a smile on his face and was willing to help me out in any way. plus, the kids really enjoyed playing the game "will uncle craigy be awake?" when we returned home from our morning outings.

for our saturday adventure with craig, we went to a nature center and walked on a boardwalk over a swamp. it felt like such a florida thing to do... hanging with the blue heron and boat-tailed grackle.

parker was such a little scientist, she took along her notepad and wrote down all the animals we saw and categorized them into their animal groups.
and having that extra person was handy. we actually got some pictures with ALL of us in it!
lo, i give you us:

so, way to go craig! way to be a great uncle and a great little brother. now, go get a job.

when i saw "manny" in the title, i thought this was going to be a post about your latin fling on a horse ranch one summer. 'member manuel? and dancing??
hooray for craig! he's such a good uncle/brother/job applicant. good luck craig!!!
Oh don't you love brothers? Especially ones that don't have their own kids so they love to be around yours? :) They are the best!
haha! i pretty much rope any willing adult that's around at the time to help me (alas, i am without any brothers to be mannies for me!). too funny about parker and her notebook. i was hoping to see a picture with her animal drawings in it or something!
I've never met Craig, but I love him. What a fun week!
Three cheers for brother mannies. My little brother's visits sound identical. I always beg him to move in.
P.S. that's a good lookin' family you have there.
your baby's legs are edible.
In reference to "naggy older sister": Do all older sisters sisters do that? Because mine says stuff like that to me, and I'm afraid I'm probably not as good a sport as Craig. It's good to know I'm in good company, though.
wait wait wait.....are those shorts i see....
and...
(in a whispered hush)
