we're returning to ithaca . . .

. . . wahoo! i can't believe we have only one more year to go. the first year of grad school went by super fast, and i know this year will be over before we know it.

i've been thinking about how we've changed over the past year, since we first arrived in ithaca...

last year:

josh: good-looking and motivated, starting out in grad school, couldn't wait to read every word of every reading assignment (yeah, that didn't last long. . . he soon realized some skimming would be necessary)
me: on my way down the weight chart (pounds were still coming off after having oliver), anxious about what my ithaca life would be like
parker: 4 yrs. old, excited to go to new york, ready to make new friends
macy: 2.5 yrs. old, had maybe 15 words, sweet as could be
oliver: 7 months old, chubby baby, barely sitting up on his own, just a little hair

this year:

josh: still good-looking and motivated, one year of grad school experience under his belt, ready to get back to it
me: on my way back up the weight chart (thank you future baby), ready to return to the familiarity of ithaca life and awesome friends
parker: 5 yrs. old, excited to start kindergarten, ready to see all her friends again but sad about the friends who won't be there anymore (sniff sniff . . . tyler, halle, kellen, sienna, to name a few)
macy: 3.5 yrs. old, her language has exploded and she is now stringing sentences together, still sweet . . . but boy can she scream
oliver : 19 months old, chubby toddler, running, talking, sweetest little boy ever, tons of curly blonde hair, waves hello to everyone

next posting: from ithaca!

(p.s. i don't know why the font is so wonky, but i'm tired of trying to figure it out...grr)

So fun to see you back tonight! Glad you yelled out a friendly hello when we "crazies" brought our kids in late. Evelyn said, "is that Macy?" Cute!

We're so glad you got there safely.....only we miss you all terribly here. It's so quiet now (Macy's screeming...don't miss that) and boring. Papa Dave and I will be out there to see you all real soon. Love and Kisses, Grammy

Hey Robin, I loved coming back to Ithaca last August. The perfect time in Ithaca! We still miss all our NY friends and wish we were coming back, but also know it won't ever be exactly the same! Enjoy your last year and tell everyone 'hi!'

Good luck with pregnancy! We miss you guys!
