first of all, thanks to everyone for the kind words about oliver's little incident. i truly appreciate everyone's thoughts and well-wishes. he's doing great.
and so, since i don't want to dwell too long on that traumatic previous post, i'm going to post a new post for the sake of posting! something more upbeat . . .
here are some of my favorite things . . .
- roll-the-windows-down-and-sing-along music. the past few days i've brought out my cake c.d.s and a little vintage indigo girls. two of my most favorite bands ever. perfect for the weather we've been having . . . and perfect for taking me back. back to the days of blasting my music (because i wanted everyone to know how cool i was because i listened to such cool music) and singing along with jamie fischer/ehrisman and gina anderson andersen. and i must admit that lately i've maybe been playing it kinda loud because hey, i want people to know that i'm cool. i'm a mom, but i'm cool.
- my dad. today on the phone he wanted to know if i'd seen his comment on my post about texting. i told him i'd read it, to which he replied, "and?" so i said, "and what, dad?" and then he started to chuckle, so i said, "dad, do you want me to tell you your comment was clever? is that what you're after here? yes dad, your comment was very funny, i appreciated it." my dad is my favorite, and i'm glad he "gets" blogging. maybe not texting, but at least he's a blogger . . .
- the yummie tummie. i was going to blog about this a while ago, but i forgot. anyway, it's awesome. pretty much changed my life.
- baby wipes. i don't know what i did before i became a mother without them. i use them for everything. and most importantly, i use them for the nightly ritual of washing my feet. every night, me and the baby wipes . . .
- clinique's naturally glossy mascara in jet brown. i've tried all kinds of mascaras, i've strayed many times. i've been attracted to flashier mascaras, mascaras mentioned on "best of" lists in magazines . . . but i always come back. back to the best. it's perfect for me, not clumpy, nothing fancy, just right. i will never stray again.
- this post from jordan's blog. for anyone who's wondered, "where exactly do josh and robin live? what's it like there?" wonder no more. jordan has explained ithaca perfectly, i could do no better.
- so you think you can dance . . . dance . . . dance . . . it's coming (may 21) and i'm excited. my most favorite show ever. well, one of. see one of my favorite dances from last season here.
this was fun. maybe i'll do it again soon . . .

Spreckels is about as out of reach for me as it is for you: and you live all the way over in China (oh, I mean, Gorges Ithaca).
But, if dreams become reality, I will invite you to spend your geriatric years with me in my brand new home.
So two things here. First, you're so lucky to have a blogging dad. That's super cool. Second, I'm relieved to hear that I'm not the only mom out there who washes my feet with BABYWIPES before crawling into bed. I like to blame it on the flip flops. Surely my floors aren't THAT dirty!!
Okay this is really weird and creepy but I clicked on your blog off of my cousin Molly Birchall (married to Nick Birchall) and I checked out your blog a little bit and saw the post to your brother and I know him!
Well my husband knows him really but my husband and Scott were roommates when we met and got engaged!
small world- sorry I am a stalker but hey, that's what I do at 11 pm.
i just read dad's comment on your texting post! hilarious! man i'm so glad little ollie is ok. mom called me sunday morning with the news of papa and ollie and i was like AH! then i had to plan and teach elder's quorum but my mind was all scrambled! love you guys!
indigo girls and cake. takes me back. jason and i have been jamming to igirls and i love it b/c it makes me think of YOU.
Next time you blog about your favorite things, don't forget to mention me. I mean, I'm sure you were saving the best/most favorite thing (me) for its own post, but really, I don't need ALL THAT praise and attention. No, no, I don't.
great post, rob.
i can't listen to cake, indigo girls, or dashboard confessional without dreaming of you. bad part about it thought, it always makes me miss you terribly.
i'm super intrigued by the yummie tummie. my tummie could use some help in the yummie department. and maybe i'll have to give clinique mascara a run.
You have totally made me bust out the old CAKE cd's again. They're so solid!
P.S. Leave anonymous comment on my blog anytime!
look at that! i'm famous! i think i will listen to cake, too. oh wait, i did. today. at lunch. with my students. we listened to the song called mexico. on cinco de mayo. how fitting. also, i have dropped the andersen from my name.
