playing with macy

(this is especially for heather anderson lister to enjoy.  i know how much you like coloring . . .  ahem, the zoey story.)

today macy and i colored.  i was really into it.  for once in my life as a mother, i was able to actually finish a whole picture.  just as i was about to color the last tiny bit (tuck's left eye), macy all of a sudden took notice of my masterpiece and wanted to do it herself.  no!  after all that work!  i seriously had to calm myself down and think, "really robin, it's a coloring book.  no one's ever gonna see what a great job you did (well, until i blog about it), just let her color the eye."  so, reluctantly i handed over the blue crayon, and she promptly scribbled on the opposite page!  hooray!  my picture escaped unscathed.  see?  beautiful, right?

also, in "playing with macy" news, she gave me a haircut with itty bitty barbie scissors and then i got to be the baby and she put me to sleep.  i have always wanted to be the one being put to bed, (i've begged many times, "let me be the baby!  you can put me to sleep!"), but i've never been allowed.  but today . . . today was my lucky day.  she covered me with a quilt, sang to me in her special macy way (humming "you are my sunshine"), gave me ducky and a kiss and then went and quietly played in her room.  and yes, i fell asleep.

(this picture was after all that, when she decided i'd had enough solo nap time and came and joined me.)

i don't know who is cuter - you or that macy girl. you are so funny robin, but i'm the same way. and i have (i mean, emmy has) a my little pony coloring book to prove it. i try and maintain a "my side, your side" thing, up to a point. it seems though when your child spots the "masterpiece", they immediately want in. sigh. thank goodness for those little motherly voices in our heads that keep us inline.

I wish I could've heard Macy humming her song.
Macy will be a wonderful mommy...just like you!

Yes, I agree, a beautiful picture! Also, I'm glad I'm not the only mom who has talked herself into allowing her child to scribble on their coloring page.

Way to score a nap!
