josh is 30 today. . .

in honor of his birthday, i thought i'd share thirty (creative, huh?) things that you may or may not know about josh . . .

1. he's the most amazing father (i know, i started out obvious . . .)
2. he does not squeeze the toothpaste from the bottom (surprising, right?  i totally would have taken him for a bottom squeezer . . . but i'm not either.  so our toothpaste tube is always a mess . . .)
3. he was "man of the year" at byu-idaho.
4. he lived in israel when he was a freshman in high school . . . and yes, he did get mistaken for one of the locals.
5. a while ago, we watched a bit of "high school musical" together. intentionally.
6. don't ask him about this because he would never admit it, but he did refer once to the wal-mart area in rexburg as "the mall".
7. he enjoys shopping.
8. he takes approximately 2.1 seconds to fall asleep.
9. he sings songs from the barbie princess movies . . . it's not uncommon to hear him humming our favorite song from "island princess".  
10. in his entire post-high school schooling, he's only gotten one B.  everything else?  A's. 
11. he spent his entire senior year of high school in a wife beater and a goatee. pumping iron. 
12. he's awesome with kids.  he is literally a kid magnet at every family gathering. i should think about renting him out for kids' birthday parties . . .
13. he is most definitely, without a doubt, irrevocably, and positively the better parent.  if he's around it's rainbows and butterflies, but as soon as he leaves and i'm on my own (which is most of the time) it's a little more treacherous. 
14. he is amazing at giving me thoughtful gifts.
15. we met on a blind date.  we went roller skating.  now, if you know me, you know how much i hate any sort of physical recreation.  hate it.  but he had a way of making it fun and winning me over . . . he's just like that.
16. he has never said anything judgmental or mean about anyone.  never.  i'm serious.
17. he has "phone voice".
18. he has done four triathlons.  his last one was a half-ironman.  
19. he is always one step ahead of me.  i go to put something on the shopping list . . . it's already there.  i come home thinking i have to give the kids baths . . . he's already done it. i ask him if he's put the bottle in the church bag . . . why do i even ask?  
20. he has been known to paint the girls' fingernails. 
21. oh, here's a good one . . . lately, he's all about beyonce's song "if i were a boy".  i tease him about that.
22. he is super nice about getting up early with the kids.  he often gets up with oliver during the night and i don't even know it.
23. he always lets me lay my feet on him when we're on the couch together and gives me feet rubs.  sometimes he does it grudgingly, but he does it nonetheless!
24. he looks away during victoria's secret commercials.
25. he wins every game.  it's actually kinda annoying to play anything with him because he beats everyone at everything.  he took all the fun out of my favorite game "take two" (the super awesome variation on scrabble).
26. when we were first married and had nothing better to do (you know, before kids) we made up a dance routine.  we would practice it in my parents' living room and perform it for my family.  it was pretty complicated and it even involved a lift at the end.  i'm not bragging, but we were pretty amazing.
27. he doesn't mind watching things like "what not to wear", "jon and kate plus eight", and "the bachelor" with me.
28. he's good at a little thing called "moderation".  you know, that self control that allows you to only eat one brownie. 
29. he's gonna hate me for saying this, but he takes forever to cut his fingernails and toenails. if he ever goes missing for a substantial amount of time, i know where he is.  in the bathroom with his hands over the trash can, clipping away.
30. he is the perfect husband because even though he is always right, he doesn't say so.
