things i wish my children would understand:

  • it is going to be okay. i am just wiping your nose... (sawyer.)
  • just because someone said it, that doesn't mean it's true. "moooommm! oliver said i'm the worst sister ever!"
  • it does not make sense to cry about how little ice cream/cereal/juice i gave you. because meanwhile, while you're whining and carrying on, the ice cream/cereal/juice is just sitting there singing "i want to go to the party in your tummy!" but instead you're crying about what i didn't give you. (grr... biggest parental pet peave.)
  • yes, i know there's another show coming on. no, that doesn't mean you can watch it.
  • sleeping in is glorious.
  • some people think my "sticking-up hair" is cool.
  • i have no idea what we're going to do all summer.
  • and, (you saw it coming) how much i love them.

Robin, I think your sticking up hair is cool. When I was considering chopping mine off for my mission Kiana, Scott and I had many discussions about how great your short hair is. We weren't sure if I could pull it off, but luckily it worked out (and grew back!).

Everytime I see those cute white ottomans in your living room I wonder how the heck they continue to be white. You were brave to even attempt that, but now I want to know your secret.

this sounds almost like a post i should have written called, "things i wish my students would understand."

7th graders still believe everything...everything. and oh the drama of "she called me a vampire!"

my clothes are cool. when i wear all black, and have plum nail polish on, i am not gothic.
