yep, a marshmallow-themed birthday party!

macy loves marshmallows and i wanted to build her party around something she loves. the idea came when i was falling asleep one night and then spent a restless night thinking of all things marshmallow. (am i the only one who does that?)

i had my brother craig design the invitations. (i like to employ my design-y brothers with my whims of fancy.) i thought of a few games involving marshmallows and a new party genre was born...

-wrapping each other up like marshmallows

-eating a jumbo marshmallow dangling from a ribbon without using your hands. very funny and very difficult... but mostly funny.

-and, the most popular activity of all, toothpick/marshmallow art. the kids absolutely loved this and probably could have kept on creating masterpieces for the entire party. it was intense.

i cleared out the living room and put the display table in a corner. josh had a few crazy ideas (like having the food in the kitchen!) to which i said, "you obviously don't read the party blogs." everyone knows that there has to be a table with the treats with a birthday banner hanging over it!
i made that banner for this party two years ago. so it looks like we'll be having red/blue parties for quite some time because that stinkin' banner took a lot of time to make.

the party favor were these marshmallow pops, basically the layman's version of cake pops. but they were cute! that's all that matters!

it was a fun little party and i'm always surprised how crazy/stressed out/sleepless i get over these things. birthday parties are not for the lighthearted.

macy loved it and she is excited to wake up tomorrow for her actual birthday. she gets to wear the birthday crown in her class and it doesn't get much better than that...

What a lucky little girl Macy Joy is. That is the cutest birthday theme ever.
You are so clever (and so is Craig for making that cute invitation).
I love all the pictures but especially the one of just Macy wrapped up as a marshmallow.

Happy Birthday sweet Macy!

Marshmallow party? Oh man. I must have one. Pronto. :)

Such a great idea. And it's in your favor to rock that banner for at least ten more years, because it's so sweet. Aqua and red just don't get old! :)

Fantastic party. Mom of the year! :)

I LOVE it! All of it. The colors are gorgeous, the games so fun. The whole marshmallow theme - genius! Me as a practically minded mom just think
marshmallows = cheap and minimal clean-up. And that banner will never get old. If by chance you DO get tired of it, send it off my way!

marshmallows..who knew? Genius idea and probably super cheap! I love the colors and the picture of her with her birthday sign. when taking picture like these I always think ahead to a time when we'll all be gathered around the (hologram?) looking at old photos. That one will be the "one" when she turned 5. she is too cute for words with that headband.

It's darling! And how did birthday parties get to be so fun? I never had a fun party like this! I love the red and blue. I can only handle a over the top birthday party every other year for my girls. the off years we go to Val Vista Lakes because who doesn't love swimming in December?! Plus I don't have to do anything but provide a treat HA!

which reminds me...I never posted the girls parties back in December...oops!
