one of the reasons i'm so smart

recently, a couple friends of mine told me they think it's funny that i read the reader's digest. they seem to have the misconception that only "old people" read it.

huh? is this a common belief out there?

alls i know is that i've been reading it for as long as i can remember. i grew up reading my grandma's monthly edition. yep, my grandma's. and i never thought anything about it.

i love you reader's digest and i don't care who knows it!

I love Reader's Digest. You have got some cute kids! That was really off topic of the post. Oh well. Just wanted to let you know that I am reading your blog these days!

I just KNEW there must be something more to why I'm so drawn to you! My mom always put old Reader's Digest issues in our bathroom for good potty time reading. I'd read the Dramas in Real Life in one sitting - just couldn't put it down!!

The reader's digest is the dilletantes best friend. What I am saying is that it is my best friend. Such an array of tidbits, vocabulary, jokes and perfectly condensed stories. I miss reading it. I am going to go get one. Thanks for the reminder. Oh and one more thing, I think it is associated with old people. And maybe old souls too...which is maybe why I like it...and maybe why you like it. I just talked way to much. I always do. Somebody should condense me.

OH MY GOSH. I grew up reading my grandma's RD, too, and I was so excited when I was grown up enough to get my own subscription. We only visited my grandma once a year so it was like RD overload/heaven to catch up on 12 issues in one week every summer. So glad someone else agrees.

When I did the Junior Miss program, the MC would read off little tidbits about each contestant as we were coming on. They read that my favorite magazine was the Reader's Digest. The whole audience died laughing. I didn't understand what was so funny. I still don't.

My mom used to buy me the RD subscription. This year she switched it out for Better Housekeeping. What's up with that? Some sort of hint?

I'm a big fan. For some reason we let our subscription lapse, but I love it. And I'm not old!

Seems there are a few more RD fans than you may have realized. I'm one too but i don't get to read it unless I'm visiting my parents.

Way to own it Robin. And just to add to the that conversation. While at the doctors I saw an old lady reading one the size of a regular magazine. So the print in side was like font size 60. That's what you have to look forward to.

the real question is are you a published reader yet?
that shows true devotion.
i don't think your old though.
but you are the youngest subscriber i've ever met....
