keeping it real

you've all seen the blogs and flickr groups (like this one and this one) completely devoted to the daily outfits of the effortlessly stylish. and while these sites may be inspiring (and in my case, by "inspiring" i mean they inspire me to whine to josh about how i haven't really gone shopping since 2006 and to complain some more about how i can't even buy a t-shirt from urban outfitters), and most claim to be budget-friendly and involve a fair amount of "thrifting", i can't help but be a little jealous/mad about the fact that i have no money (thank you cornell) or the time to even look for amazing deals at forever 21.

don't get me wrong, i'm glad those fashionistas do what they do. i like to dream a little and imagine that i can recreate a look that i fancy. (this girl is my absolute favorite. she has my ideal fashion sense.)

anyway, so like i said, let's get real. there are no blogs out there and no flickr groups devoted to mom wear! especially not pregnant mom wear. and while i appreciate a skinny jean (or maternity skinny jean) just as much as the next girl, i can't imagine myself wearing them to hang out with my kids in my house flipping pancakes or sitting on the floor putting together oliver's train track for the 14th time.

so, say i, there should be a flickr group out there for people like me! that is, 36 weeks pregnant and to the point where i'm wearing the same pants everyday!

this is what it would look like (with me appropriately looking away from the camera):

#1 headband: h&m
shirt: gap maternity, fall 2007
pants: gap maternity, winter 2004

#2 shirt: gap maternity, fall 2009
pants: gap maternity, winter 2004

#3 headband: h&m
white long-sleeve shirt: gap maternity, winter 2006
shirt: target maternity, fall 2007

i mean, am i right? people would flock to see the latest uploaded pictures of moms in mom wear.

and aren't you so jealous of my super old maternity cozy pants? aren't they so awesome? they're so awesome that they become my uniform for the last weeks of my pregnancies. (that's right, with an "s". i've had them for all four pregnancies.) and when i get a little chilly, i put on my matching maternity cozy hoody. take that, stacey and clinton.

so, just let me know if you're interested and i'll get that group started right away.

p.s. if you know me, then you know that i enjoy posting pregnant pictures of myself just about as much as i like frolicking in the snow, swimming in lakes, or riding horses, so i did this purely for the entertainment value. you know, to make a fool of myself. so, you'd best appreciate.

p.p.s. and then design mom goes and does this post, making me feel bad because i guess all pregnant moms aren't slobs. what?

hilar. no seriously. design mom can suck it cause she's only 25 weeks. that's a big difference between being cute, and wanting to kill yourself.

giving the season and year was a nice one two punch. what i wish you had put was what you were looking at in the pictures, like parker getting into your makeup, or ollie pulling down a vase of flowers. i loved every word and read it twice. but my question is, what if you wear non-pregnancy cozy pants everyday?

robin, you're a babe! in cozy pants and all! i've never been pregnant but i can sure imagine wanting some of those lovely pants much sooner than 36 weeks! and i agree with your friend . . . design mom can suck it! that's probably her pretend life.

love you and can't wait to see you and that sweet baby inside of you in 8 weeks!

cute and trendy=exhaustion to me. yeah, i love to look at people's outfits and say, "wow, i love that. where can i get me some?" but when it all comes down to it, it just makes me tired and i end up throwing on one of my old t-shirts/hoodies and a pair of jeans. yep...t-shirt and jeans. that is what you get from me. pregnant or not.

love it...the headband twice really adds some savor to the ensembles....
my biggest desicion each morning is which of my pathetic jackets that no longer button will i put on to cover some unsightly side and back rolls?

oh, i love those pants!! i should know, as you let me borrow them. so technically, this is their 5th pregnancy. and that matching hoodie you mentioned? yeah, i made good use of that too. you're the best robin.

and i'm going to take one of these stylin' robin pictures and put it in the empty p-frame in my front room. then all who enter can marvel at the mysterious girl looking at... something.

Oh how I wish you could come stroll through my Wal-mart. Everyone is pregnant and no one comes CLOSE to looking as cute as you are.

Those pants look great by the way, and if they're comfy then I say be a mom and go for it.

One more thing, that "necktie around the waist thing" that design mom has going on is the most horrible thing I've ever seen. If I saw her in real life, I'd think, "oh that poor pregnant lady who thinks that tie flatters her figure." Maybe I'm not up on the latest fashion, but it really stinks in my opinion.

haha! i am dying laughing right now. so funny. the difference between kid #1 and kid #4 i'm sure is VAST!
you rock the sweatpants robin, rock them. i made it to 31 weeks without them, but the moment i cave, you'll be the first to know. ;)

That was...great. For real. I love you more than you know for doing that. I feel I should post pics of me in my PJ's from 1995 because that is what I always wear. Bravo...Bravo

Robin - So glad you like being comfy when you're pregnant! I'm right there with you! And besides - Josh already knows how beautiful you are, so the same pair of pants isn't going to change his opinion there. Love you and can't wait to hear about your new little one!

As an expecting woman myself I have google outfit styles so many times. An have not been able to find realistic, cute, trendy looks that I can copy. I love your blog. Think you should def keep posting. Love it

oh my goodness chelsea, i hope you weren't thinking about copying my pregnant looks! that was not exactly my intention. but you're so sweet, you'd say nice things if i was 600 pounds and in a bikini.
