ladle of love?

a note about the name of my blog...
i feel like i need to explain myself.

in carmel (my most favorite place on earth) there are many beautiful and charming cottages that i rather enjoy driving past and coveting. it is my ultimate desire. . . to one day reside in my own little cottage by the sea. anyway, because houses in carmel-by-the-sea don't have addresses, a lot of residents name their houses. "tinkerbell's cottage", "the tree house", "periwinkle", and "sea urchin" are a few examples. i love the idea of having a name for your home (especially if it's a carmel story book cottage) and i jokingly told josh that when -not if- we live there, we should name our cottage "ladle of love". i thought it was funny and nauseatingly cheesy.

so when it came time to name the blog, i thought of the name of my future dream house. again, i know the name "ladle of love" is terribly cheesy (and if you know me at all, you know i am definitely NOT cheesy), but just know that it is intentionally cheesy. in a tongue-in-cheek sort of way. i didn't name it that and sigh to myself "ah! how cute!"

in a way, it's a nod to my dreams. someday, yes, someday, josh and i will relax in our cozy cottage, grandchildren at our feet, with the sound of the ocean drifting in through our open dutch door. the same dutch door that states the name "ladle of love" on a piece of painted driftwood.

so there you have it. and yes, you can come visit.

I can just picture it now. It will have a darling little cottage in the back for the grandparents.

You can call Neecypoo's pad, in memory of Neece.

Love your dream.

dang. I wish I had a fun little last name with which to name our blog...and our future cottage. I have always loved named estates as well. THey sound even better if you call them estates. Don't you think? Every time I read a Jane Austin book I always day dream about what our home would be called.

oh and thanks for clarifying that your title is cheezy, not cute. I've been wondering.

Robin - you are a great blogger! I especially love your "graduate widow" list. It brought back so many memories!

If only I could be so witty and creative...maybe when I sleep through the night again...yea, probably not even then!

hey, I think I know where that cottage is in Carmel..maybe Cam and I can be your neighbors. We too would drive around Carmel and love all its charm and quaintness. (is that a word?) And dream about living there. However, you will have to help us come up with our own nauseating cute name! :)

If the pure witticism of your words fails to translate, then I would have to assume it has more to do with the reader. That cottage is equally as enchanting as your blog, but not as much as driftwood, in general.

you do know those tiny cottages cost over 9 million dollars right?

Robin, your blog is always so fun to read! And yes, I know I've said this before, but I love how you write about all the places you love about this area because I love learning new cool things to do here! So, can Nick and I copy you and go drive by these adorable cottages by the sea in carmel now? :) Truly, looks straight out of a story-book...

I freaking know you. I'm not scared. It's time you put up a followers list cause I'm too lazy to manually put you in my reader.
