about a boy

i get asked all the time about the difference between oliver and the girls.
i don't know about anyone else, but there are two things that i have noticed for sure that oliver is all about that the girls never showed any interest in . . .

the first:

notice the complete lack of books on an entire shelf. and that's nothing. he's just getting started. this is literally the 32nd time he's taken all the books off the book shelf. and this picture was taken at 9:30 in the morning. i'm not even lying.

the second:

oliver is o b s e s s e d with this train track . . . all day long i hear, "choo choo, choo choo?"
and it is a rare car ride (translation: never) when i don't hear a complete excitement attack from oliver every time we pass a truck, a bus, a mail van, a tractor, a suburban. . .

i'm telling you, these things are programmed.
they are ingrained in their little boy brains.

i'm sure boys are great and all, but three cheers for little girls! especially the kind that love wearing boots and enjoying making crafts with their mommies.

love 'em.

Yaay for little boys! The most common thing that I hear from Eli is "Choo, choo train!" With a close second being "Fire Twuck!" I think the destruction part is true too. Although, he doesn't really pull books off of the shelf as much as he scatters blocks and toys and trains etc all around the house.

My girls are not to quite that extreme of trucks and trains, but they definitely love them. The destruction on the other hand, I guess my girls are kind of like boys! But you know that, you watch them a how they act. Like Allison just pushing Ollie back. She's not going to take anything, or cry about it, she'll just deal with it. My girls fight like boys!
I love the pretty pink chair that Ollie is on.

I agree. Both Dex and Cal have loved anything with wheels since they were 6 months old. Dexter is obsessed with trains of any shape/size/brand. I thought I had gotten away with having a non-destructive boy, because Dexter generally likes things to be in their place ... then Cal came along. He and Ollie would have a grand time, destroying my book shelfs together. :)

i've met this boy once. he was like six months old... so none of this is ringing a bell... he was just baby-fied then... none of this pure boy personality business.

but, he DOES kind of remind me of holly's max. maybe a lot.

Cheers for boys. I may never know what it is like to have a girl, but I do love my boys.

Carson is sitting next to me and wants to know if Oliver has two trains. Carson said that he wants to go to Oliver's house. I told him that he lives far away, and his reply was, "we can take the car and I can watch a movie on the way then knock on his door and his mommy will answer and i can play trains with Oliver."
