i have a new best friend.
her name is havarti. as in, the cheese.
i've always been an admirer of cheese, to put it mildly. i can definitely see myself as a cheese connoisseur, working behind the counter of an esteemed cheese shop, advising people on which cheese would be best for this or that. i find myself drawn to the gourmet cheese section at wegmans, circling it like a vulture circles its next meal, hoping someone behind the counter will offer me a smile . . . a sample . . . a job.
lately i've heard some rubbish about people who don't eat cheese! what?! how do they live? i eat cheese every day! i've even joked about going on an all-cheese diet! i eat cheese every day for lunch, i put it on my daily salad, and i even have cottage cheese every morning for breakfast. (okay, i don't know if cottage cheese counts, but it has the word cheese in it.)
anyway . . . back to my new best friend.
i bought some havarti a few weeks ago for the first time. i got home, sliced me a slice, put it in my mouth and almost fainted. it was love at first bite. how i went so long in my life without this being a dairy staple, i don't know. why hadn't i bought this delicious, semisoft danish delight before?
let me assure you havarti cheese, i am your friend for life.

There are people who don't eat cheese? Inconceivable!!
And don't ask how I know this, but the term for a lover of cheese is a "turophile." Could come in handy. :)
I must be a horrible friend because i have loved havarti cheese for years and never thought to share this little nugget of wonder with you. Geesh, i'm sorry. But... It IS the best cheese ever. Mild. Slightly creamier than your regular block cheddar. And now i know what to get you for your birthday...
oh rob you and your food, too funny. so cheese pro, what's your fave on a grilled cheese--mine is cheddar & provolone.
Yes, I would have to agree..Havarti is one of those simple divine things in life. I LOVE HAVARTI. Try it on some french bread with butter..yummy!
look lady. i just read your comment on lisa's blog about sirri being "another bigelow cryer". i take that personally!!!!!
:D
haha. love yer guts.
ok robin, i'm totally in with you on this. lately, as a prego woman who has to try to shun caffeine, chocolate and sugar (all which cause me way too many heart palpitations!) i have turned to cheese. oh yeah, we've always had a love affair going, but now it's really intense. i bought a HUGE block of cheddar and seriously wish i could carry it around in my purse. here is a website you should visit (or i don't know, just drive to the place, it's probably about 10 hours away) it's heinis.com (as in, heini's cheese chalet). i suggest you order some amish butter cheese and some smoked gouda. those two alone will induce a cheese coma!! heavenly!!!!
