family news

we have a new ladle cousin!
josh's brother jon and his wife amy just welcomed child number seven into their adorable family.  dexter davis ladle.  that makes 27 cousins on josh's side. . .

amy is amazing.  if anyone was ever cut out to have seven (and counting?) kids it would be her.  she's so effortless and cool . . . the type who's on time to church every sunday, even though she's got half a dozen kids and her husband's in the bishopric.  "wow" is all i have to say.  plus, she looks like this minutes after having her seventh baby. . .

also, happy birthday (yesterday) to my niece brooklyn.  eight years ago she made me an aunt for the first time.  i remember the day so clearly . . . actually it was night.  i came home from a date (with my hairdresser) and the message was there on the shanty white board.  (this was long before the day of ubiquitous cell phones . . . remember those days?)  i flew to california the next weekend to meet her for the first time and that was the start of something special.  i considered brooklyn practically like my own child and absolutely loved taking on the role of aunt.
so, happy birthday brooklet . . . the cutest, sweetest eight year old!
(and i hope that you can forgive me for the time when you were two and i took you on that kiddy roller coaster at adventure city which was clearly made for the three-and-older set.  yeah.  that was scarring.)

uhhh... I (since i never use caps unless i intend to dramatize things, i hope you recognize the one letter word that is "i" - in caps, for emphasizing purposes) remember the day brooklyn was born. in fact, i remember taking the call announcing her birth. i also remember talking to your hairdresser for hours on end during the breakdown of your "relationship" - oh, and... when we had important shopping in pocatello questions.

... chalk it up to being the best third wheel EVER (see... emphasis, as it was intended to be.) again. and again.

Ubiquitous? Impressive, Robin. I'm heading over to dictionary.com next.

Hmmm. What it would it be like to be calm, cool, and on time with 7 kids. Amazing.
