"we don't have to wait anymore!"

on friday night i took parker to see the nutcracker.  she was so excited. . .  all day (and because it was a snow day, i do mean all day) she kept saying, "it's tonight!  we're going tonight!"  she was so excited to wear her sparkly pink dress and her black church shoes (even though she had to wear her boots to the theater and change into them once we sat down . . . yes, my daughter, ever the fashionista.)  she asked for "product" for her hair and everything.  truly my daughter.
as we walked into the theater she kept saying, "we don't have to wait anymore!  we don't have to wait anymore!  we're here!"  it was pretty cute.

besides the fact that we had lousy seats (anyone ever sat behind a harp before?  yeah.) and the fact that someone near us went heavy on the vanilla lotion, and the fact that the ballet was pretty amateurish, it was a blast.  parker loved every minute of it.  she sat on my lap the entire time, mesmerized.  after every dance and applause, she'd turn to me, "is it over?" every time.
she lasted until the "waltz of the flowers" when she fell asleep on my lap.  but she would still clap in her sleep every time the audience clapped.

it was a late night for her (as she was kind enough to repeatedly remind macy the next day, "i had a late night last night, you didn't!") but it was well worth it.

i tried to get a good picture of our date, but this is all i got.
a fuzzy picture that shows our proximity to the harp and the stage.

Great memories. Hey, do you remember when you played the harp? Do you miss it?

i was also thinking of robin-the-almost-harpist just the other day. but i'm glad you selflessly put aside your harp career to have and raise a family. what an example you are to us all robin.

p.s. to be a real 'harper', i think you need long, flowing hair. sorry.
